Port of Los Angeles Cargo Volume Remains Soft | News

Cargo volume at the Port of Los Angeles dropped in October as the Port handled 678,429 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), a 25% decrease from October 2021. The Port of Los Angeles has processed 8,542,944 TEUs during the first 10 months of 2022, about 6% down from last year’s record pace.

Unprecedented Year Increases Port Emissions

Emissions from port-related sources increased in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to the Port of Los Angeles’ latest Inventory of Air Emissions. The 2021 results were significantly impacted by a series of supply chain disruptions, particularly cargo vessels anchored outside the port complex. Over the past year, private and public stakeholders have been successful in reducing congestion and ships at anchor, which will improve 2022 emissions.

About LAPPA

The Los Angeles Port Police Association (LAPPA) is the official employees organization of Port police officers.

The purpose of the police association is to represent its active members in employment relations and matters of working conditions with the City of Los Angeles. Additionally, LAPPA is actively involved in supporting and promoting the surrounding communities of San Pedro and Wilmington.
